ITINERARY

Day 1

Pick up of guest at Tamale Airport or any other location within Tamale and head northeast to Tongo, a town few kilometres away from the regional capital. Visit the chief with his several wives and head to the Tongo hills. The jutting granite rocks of this terrain give a whistling sound especially when blown over by Harmattan winds. At the top of these hills our guest can enjoy the panoramic views of the entire township. Afterwards, we visit the famous Tengzug shrines. These shrines once served as hideout by evading slaves from their captives which have now been reserved as grounds for traditional sacrifices. A tour within the community to interact with the people and learn about their way of living will conclude our trip before heading back to Bolgatanga.

Day 2

Today starts with a trip to Paga Crocodile Pond which is north of Bolgatanga. Enjoy memorable experience from posing to 'riding' on the back of these crocodiles for your photos. These harmless crocodiles are believed to be housing the souls of the community folks in Paga.

Fom Paga, we make a stop at Sirigu, a local community near Bolgatanga to see pottery art works resulting from relentless pursuit of a retired teacher, Mama Melanie. You will be thrilled to seeing locally made ceramic pots and vases with patterns scored on them using pebbles. You will also find beautiful paintings on mud houses as well as on canvas.

Later, we drive back to the Bolgatanga township and into the daily market where our guest can have a feel of the hustle and bustle of the market women warmly welcoming customers to their sheds. Shop for locally made goods like the famous Bolga straw hats, baskets and weaved artifacts at the lowest prices possible

Day 3

Leave Bolgatanga and drive southwest to Mole National Park. First stop at Larabanga to see the beautiful ancient Mosque which is the oldest in the country and among the oldest in West Africa. We then continue our journey to Mole National Park from Larabanga. Our guests are checked into the beautiful and serene mole hotel with swimming pool overlooking watering holes where most of the animals come to drink water and have their bath. After lunch is served, guests are taken out for the afternoon drive safari to see the various animals in the park. Wildlife to be seen include the African elephants, antelopes of various species, baboons, monkeys and lots of colourful birds. When we return from safari, our guests take a rest after a day of fun and sightseeing at poolside and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Day 4

This is a fully packed fan activities day. The day begins with a morning drive or walk safari depending on the choice of our guest. Breakfast is served after the morning safari and guest prepares for another exciting trip to Mognori. At Mognori, the activities start with a canoe safari on the Mole River and a walk in the community to learn about the culture of the people. Still at Mognori, our guests are treated to a cultural dance from the community folks before heading back to the park to rest and enjoy the beautiful sunset at the hotel.

Day 5

On the extreme North Western corner of the upper West region is a community protected area, home to Hippos. We shall ride out in a canoe to see these wonderful herbivores bathing after their nightly grazing along the banks of a 40 kilometers stretch down the Black Volta. After the canoe safari, we shall visit the Lobi compound to watch their distinct architectural designs, climb the rooftops of the mud buildings and interact with the local people. Guests will be introduced to local drumming with the xylophone and have their firsthand experience before bidding farewell to this pristine community and back to Mole National Park.

Day 6

The day begins with a morning walk safari for our guest to have intimate time with nature and wildlife at its best in the park. As usual, breakfast will be taken after the morning’s safari.
